Does My Insurance Cover Acupuncture?
How many sessions will you need?
You might notice improvement after the first 1-2 sessions, but chronic issues may take longer. If I believe acupuncture won’t help, I’ll let you know. If results aren’t as expected, I’ll suggest a second opinion.
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
Many people fear acupuncture due to past experiences with thicker hypodermic needles used for vaccinations or blood draws, which can be painful. In contrast, acupuncture needles are very thin, and most patients feel little to nothing, often describing the sensation as a pleasant pressure. Your comfort is our priority, and throughout the treatment, we will explain each step and welcome your feedback on your sensations
Are the Needles Sterile / Needle Depth?
How deep are the needles inserted and are they sterile?
Needle depth depends on the acupuncture point being used as well as the size, age, and constitution of the patient. In general, needles are inserted between 1/8th and 1 inch deep. All our licensed practitioners are nationally "Clean Needle Certified" and will always use sterile, surgical stainless steel, and disposable needles.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose-fitting athletic shorts to allow easy access to the treatment area. The practitioner will ensure your comfort by draping you with towels and sheets. If you don't have shorts, we can provide designer options for you.
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling uses thin, solid needles to release trigger points and relieve muscle pain. This technique differs from "wet needling," which involves hollow needles for injections. Usually performed by physical therapists, we provide this service as "Sports Medicine Acupuncture."
What distinguishes dry needling from acupuncture?
They are essentially same! Utilizing acupuncture needles to release trigger points is fundamentally acupuncture technique. It is just one of the various methods an acupuncturist may employ to your pain. While it can be highly effective, it may not be suitable for every patient or every injury at all times.
